Pandora Sykes x Hunza G

For a few months now, I’ve been growing a baby (of sorts) that’s very close to my heart. That baby is Pandora Sykes x Hunza G, my first design collaboration – with London-based swimwear brand, Hunza G – and it launches TODAY.

To tell you a little bit about it, one of my best friends Georgiana Huddart is the Creative Director and we realised, over a cup of tea one day that we really wanted to do something together. After that, we moved quickly. I am hyper-aware of chicks who working in fashion thinking they have any kind of design nous, so I wanted to make sure that this was something 100% and fully realised by me, from the design to the creative direction to the cookbook production. I drew some sketches on my honeymoon, complete with coloured pencils and annotated like a science experiment in May. Three months later, here it is: our stretchy little baby, fully birthed in myriad forms.

In case you aren’t familiar with it, Hunza G (once worn by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman), is stocked in Selfridges Body Studio, worn by bodacious babes including Lily Donaldson and Georgia May Jagger and has already enjoyed collaborative success with House of Holland. Georgie took over as Creative Director in 2015 and the brand is enjoying a rapid renaissance.

Pandora Sykes x Hunza G comprises five pieces, in multiple colourways. The collaboration is a love story to both Essex – and each other! We met in Essex aged 14, when Georgie moved into the house across the field, so all the pieces are named after Essex Girls and Eva K.Salvi shot the campaign on East Mersea beach, in Essex. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the girls.

[PLEASE NOTE: more colours are available on the site. We just shot a selection for the campaign]

There’s Sharon – a Bardot-sleeved blouse, with stiff puffy sleeves. She’s the smartest of the girls, working easily as eveningwear, but also remaining super comfy with that Hunza crinkle-stretch fabric. Next up you have Denise, a reworking of a classic Hunza piece from the 80s – high-cut swimsuit with a mini ballet skirt which is super flattering on the hips. Then there’s Tracey, a bandeau bikini with cotton frill trim. For a soupcon of sass, I’d like to direct you to Debbie, a lace-up top which screams summer holiday. Lastly, but not leastly (if that was a word) I offer you Kerry, a cross-over swimsuit, ideal for breast-feeding and born out of a common swimwear complaint that I receive as Wardrobe Mistress at Style – that there is no appropriate swimwear for new mothers. Do also note that Kerry is a little longer in the body, so if you are tall and fearful of a super high-cut fit, then this is the one for you. It’s also superlatively generous on the boobies for those with circa-DD tits. Now you’ve met them, they’d really like to come and live in your wardrobe. Don’t be shy.

See bottom of post for the IMPORTANT STUFF.
